The coat of arms of Hong Kong was produced and accepted onto flags and official documentation in 1959, as a gift from Britain to the colonial administration. It featured a lion donning a crown, a Chinese dragon, and a second lion passing a pearl, the pearl of the Orient, to the other lion.
