The Yomeimom gate is part of the Tôshôgû shrine: The shrines and temples of Nikko form a single complex composed of one hundred three buildings within two Shinto shrines (the Tôshôgû and the Futarasan-jinja) and one Buddhist temple (the Rinnô-ji). Many of them are especially associated with the great shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (1543-1616), and is a perfect illustration of the style of the Edo period.
