Canadian centennial (1867): Sugar maple is found in southern areas of Ontario and Quebec, but the species is widespread in New Brunswick. It is a large tree that can grow up to 40 m in height, in mixed hard wood and conifer forests where it is often the dominant or codominant species. It can survive up to 500 years, and is browsed by deer, moose, snow hares and squirrels. (IUCN, Cambridge, 2017)
