Berthold Dietmayr was elected abbot of Melk abbey in 1700, and with determination proceeded with the necessary renovation work which resulted in the splendid baroque monastery. He found a congenial partner in the master builder Jakob Prandtauer, who projected the reconstruction, and supervised it from 1702 until his death in 1726. (Benediktinerstift Melk, 2025)
