Between 1930 and 1936 Gyenes worked in Budapest for the magazine "Színhazi élet", covering events such as the Berlin Olympics of 1936. He moved to Paris in 1937, where collaborated as a reporter with the agency Keystone traveling through europe. In 1938 he settled in Cairo, where he worked as a correspondent for "The New York times" and other media until 1940,
