Triplaris surinamensis, synonym of T. weigeltiana, is cultivated as it grows quickly and can be used to re-establish woodlands, and it also confers some medicinal uses. (Harri Lorenzi, 2002). The wood is used for turning, furniture, boxes and crates, interior construction and particles board.
