After the Greek national revolution, the people of Galaxídi were able to fulfil their wish and finish building Saint Nicholas Church (1827-1902). Its wood-carved iconostasis, the icon screen with doors separating the main body of a Greek-Orthodox church (nave) from the sanctuary (altar), is well known throughout Greece as a masterpiece of sculpture, as the Annunciation.
