Cedar of Lebanon: Many forests are in protected areas yet they still suffer from degradation, and all remnant in Lebanon are protected, including the cedars of Bsharre, which are in a world heritage site (United Nations) containing a small stand of the oldest and largest cedar specimens known. Historically the timber was been much used for shipbuilding and the construction of temples. (IUCN, 2013)
