	Siege of the Acropolis (1821): The recapture of the sacred rock, which served as the last Turkish stronghold in Athens, marked the end of the battle which had begun in November. Following the liberation of the city, the Greeks occupied the position of Serpentsé, with the siege tightening on the fortified Turks. 	Located at Vasilissis Sofias avenue, the church of Saint George was part of the Rizarios Ecclesiastical School, which was founded in 1841 by Georgios Rizaris, merchant and national benefactor of Greece.
