The impala (Aepyceros melampus) formerly occurred in the bushveld and lowveld of Northwest, Northern and Mpumalanga provinces, northern KwaZulu-Natal and parts of the northeastern Cape. It was eliminated from many areas, but through reintroduction it is again widespread throughout much of its historical range. Kruger National Park support one of largest impala populations.
