The aoudad is assessed as vulnerable as the total population size is in the order of 5,000-10,000 individuals, and an estimated decline of more than 10% over the coming 15 years (three generations) can be reasonably assumed. Its population does not exceed 700-800 individuals in Tunisia, living in fragmented areas, mainly located in reserves. ("The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species", Gland, 2020)
