The nymph Cyrene, overpowering a lion, is crowned by Libya (marble inscribed relief, 120=140): "Karpos, dedicating this, set above the lintel the mother of cities and lion-slayer Cyrene, in token of her great hospitality. Libya herself crowns her, having the glory of being a third continent". (Temple of Aphrodite [Cyrene]). (The British Museum, London, 2023: 1861,1127.30)
