The Andean condor occurs along the length of the mountain range in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile, and is considered vagrant in Venezuela. The global population has been estimated at 10,000 individuals, although as a maximum estimate. The species is in rapid decline caused by direct persecution by humans, lead poisoning and deterioration of habitat quality. (IUCN, 2020)
