Erythrina crista-galli occurs in the three southern states of Brazil: Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná. However, the cockspur coral tree can be distributed in other regions as the central areas of the country, also occurring in the Distrito Federal, and in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
