Morella faya is endemic to Macaronesia, occurring in the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands. An evergreen shrub or small tree of up to 15 m., it grows in laurisilva forest as well as degraded forest, between 400 and 1,500 m. above sea level. It is also found growing on lava flows and exposed habitats such as cliffs. (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources, 2019)
